Psychotherapist working with Children and Families
Are you worried about your child? Is your child showing concerning behaviour that you’re not sure how to handle? Are you struggling with family life and aren’t sure how to improve it? I am a Psychotherapist working with Children and Families. I have helped hundreds of people repair their family life, improve relationships and their sense of well being. I work flexibly with children and young people, parents, as well as parents and their children together, depending on each family’s needs and requirements.
Psychological Therapy with children,
adolescents and parents
I am a registered Psychodynamic Psychotherapist working with children and families. I am accredited with the British Psychoanalytic Council registration body. My professional background is in Social Work. I worked for 20 years at a charity, in a children's service that aimed to prevent families difficulties from escalating and enable family dynamics to improve. I now work with children and adolescents in primary and secondary schools and am the lead children's psychotherapist in a family centre. I aim to develop clients trust by providing a confidential space in which they can feel understood and safe to explore the issues that are bothering them. I use play and art materials with younger children to facilitate therapeutic change. I also work with parents to enable them to improve their relationship with the child they are experiencing difficulties with, which in turn can lead to improvements in the child’s mental health and well being.
I will come up with a clear plan and way forward to enable change. In the process you will learn helpful tools to make necessary changes.

Areas of Expertise
Children and Adolescents
I help children and young people to talk about their worries and symptoms such as:

-
Depression
-
Low self esteem and confidence
-
Anxiety
-
Phobias/OCD
-
Anger/behavioural issues/self-regulation
-
Peer/friendships
-
School/exam stress
-
Tech addiction
-
Loss
I work sensitively and in an age appropriate way to enable children and young people to feel safe and understood. My hope is that through the process of therapy, children's symptoms will lessen, a greater sense of self acceptance will develop, and that they will be able to better express how they feel to themselves and others. I aim to facilitate therapeutic change in children and young people so that they will gradually experience a greater sense of inner freedom and enjoyment in their lives and look forward to a future in which they will thrive.
Parents
I reflect with parents’ to help them understand their children’s worries and symptoms, carefully assessing what is needed in any family situation, before proceeding with a treatment plan.
